Kathy Clark
2008 Woman of Distinction

Because ABWA places such importance on recognition, The Woman of Distinction Award was implemented by the Executive Board in 2004-2005, in hopes that it would be continued throughout the years. The Executive Board has the ability to witness happenings behind the scenes that the general membership may or may not know about. The Woman of Distinction honor carries with it much of the same criteria as some of the other awards, but does not require the recipient to be a member for a certain amount of time or to have held an office
Kathy joined the Tomball Charter Chapter in 2005 and immediately started volunteering on many different committees. When the new chapter year began in August, she jumped into action willingly for our chapter’s benefit. She volunteered to co-chair the program committee, and with the help of Nida Ellis, has brought incredible programming to our chapter this year. Due to unforeseen personal issues, our Publicity Committee Chair had to step down three months after our new year started. Our Woman of Distinction volunteered to take on this responsibility, as well as continuing to co-chair the Program Committee. She has managed to get us into a local newspaper free of charge each month. She has researched and located many other forms of free publicity throughout our community and surrounding areas, helping to further the community’s knowledge of our association. Additionally, she is now chairing two fundraisers, the Cruise Raffle and a garage sale for the benefit of Tomball Charter Chapter. She has attended every board meeting this year to report on her many committees and activities.
